SS Master Society | SS Master Steam Tug

SS MasterThe SS Master is the last wooden-hulled steam tug in North America and an icon of the Vancouver waterfront. Built in False Creek at the Beach Avenue Shipyard in 1922 by Arthur Moscrop, the SS Master worked the BC coast for 38 years hauling stone, coal, limestone, and logs and covered over a million miles. Many thousands of hours are put in each year to maintain her in a condition good enough to pass her obligatory annual Canadian Ship Inspection, and thanks to her faithful volunteer crew, she always passes with flying colours
