Once again, for the third year in a row, the Shady Isle Pirates made an appearance at the 69th Annual Steveston Salmon Festival Parade.
The Steveston Salmon Festival Parade attracts visitors from around the lower mainland and further across the Pacific Northwest. The Parade is a mainstay of the Steveston Salmon Festival. The Shady Isle Pirates placed 1st for Best Community Group for the second time in the past three years! This year the grande award was renamed the Ted Lorenz Award, in memory prominant and much loved Steveston community pioneer. It was a very big honour to be the first community group to receive the award, and become a part of Steveston history.
Thanks to the volunteers, and all the participants who made this year's parade such a success! It was tough in the heat for everyone - and thank you thank you parade organizers for having water and food ready at the end for all the groups!
